Abstract
Living for many years in one of the most air-polluted cities in Europe – Skopje, I am familiar with the unpleasant feeling of living in smog and risking your life by simply breathing. This serves as motivation for me to search for solutions for better and more adequate protection for the environment and human well-being. The energy used in transport has contributed greatly to greenhouse gas emissions, but it also has potential through effective mitigation measures to significantly reduce emissions. The states, under the United Nations Framework on Climate Change, have started their efforts to decrease emissions from transport, but there is always room for future improvements.
