Abstract

Simultaneous measurements of atmospheric radio noise were carried out at Delhi by Aiya's method which measures the quasi-peak value due to a noise burst and the NBS method which measures the rms value over the period of measurement. The measurements were carried out at 495 kHz, 2.5 MHz and 5.0 MHz between 16.00 and 20.00 hr IST during September 1970. There is good correlation between the observations recorded by the two methods. The median value of the ratio between the two is 11.0 dB. The standard deviation for the ratio is 3.5 dB at 495 kHz and about 4.75 dB at 2.5 and 5.0 MHz. The significance of these results is discussed.
