Abstract

The article deals with Spanish comparative idioms with an anthroponomic component. Revealing the true semantic motivation of phraseological units is still a challenging issue since motivation attributes may be partially or completely erased from the memory. The proper names of many characters become deanthroponyms and/or turn into symbolic figures that exist only in phraseological corpus and are used in order to express a determinate evaluativity. The present article is supposed to reveal the semantic motivation of comparative idioms with an anthroponomic component and to systemize them according to personal data of the characters. The study of comparative idioms with an anthroponomic component has made it possible to determinate the most significant individuals of the Spanish linguoculture, to describe the associations they evoke and their nature, to define the component composition of phraseological units and their semantic features, to specify the national-cultural peculiarity of representing universal concepts.
