Abstract

1. A comparative estimate was made of the thermal and thermooxidative stability of polymers belonging to the series of acrylic andα-substituted acrylic derivatives of triphenylphosphine oxide. It was found that isomerism in the structure of the starting monomers exerts an important effect on the heat stability of the polymers: the thermal decomposition of the polymers based on the o-isomers of acroyl- andα-fluoroacroyloxyphenyldiphenylphosphine oxide proceeds at lower temperatures than does the thermal decomposition of the corresponding m- and p-isomers. 2. The thermal degradation of the polymer of p-methacroyloxyphenyldiphenylphosphine oxide proceeds more slowly than in the case of poly(phenyl methacrylate).
