Abstract
To acquire visible emissions using near-ultraviolet (NUV) and near-infrared (NIR) irradiations for multiple solid state lighting and display applications, exploring efficient upconversion (UC)/downconversion (DC) mode of erbium ion in different matrixes is of great importance. Here, we aimed to originally study the dual emission mode of borophosphate La7O6(BO3)(PO4)2 (LBP)-based solid solution doped with erbium ion. Er3+ occupies the lattice site of La3+ . A yellowish-green light is acquired by both DC and UC. It is identified that the UC photoluminescence has lower correlated color temperature (5694 K), higher color purity (87%), and longer lifetime (0.338 ms) than the DC. The present research can provide a new insight into the design and UC/DC photoluminescence of borophosphate-based solid solution fabricated by erbium for expanding solid state lighting applications.
