Abstract

Objective To compare the therapeutic effect and safety of endoscopic multi-band mucosetomy (MBM) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (SMR) in patients with early esophageal submucosal tumors. Methods Forty patients with esophageal submucosal tumors were divided into MBM group (n=22) and SMR group (n=18) according to different treatment methods. The success rate of resection, operation time, complete resection rate and complications of the two groups were compared. Results The complete resection rate was 95.45% in MBM group and it was 94.44% in SMR group, and there was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05); the operation time in MBM group [(31.35±4.0)min] was significantly shorter than that in SMR group [(47.2±4.5)min](P 0.05). The patient were followed up for 3 to 24 months and no local recurrence was found in both the two groups. Conclusions The application of MBM in patients with esophageal submucosal tumor is safe, effective and has less complication. It is worthy of clinical application. Key words: Esophageal submucosal tumors; Endoscopic multi-band mucosectomy; Endoscopic submucosal fesection
