Abstract

The electrochemical studies of mono-, di- and tetra-arylporphyrins are presented. The anodic oxidation of di- and tetra-arylporphyrins leads to insoluble electroactive deposits with variable electrochemical bandgaps. Remarkably, for the monoarylporphyrin, the polymerization is also observed. The physico- and electrochemical behaviours of the deposits are presented. Possible coupling between aryl units and porphyrin meso positions is discussed in order to explain the electrochemical behaviour of the different deposit and the values of their electrochemical bandgap.
