Abstract

Abstract Globally the automotive sector is one of the topper energy consumers compared with other sectors and about seventy percent of the India energy depends on the imported non-renewable fuel. The provenience of fossil fuel fully depleting forthcoming years apart from this the fuel price and demands are barely high. However, their circumscribed whack and environmental negative obstacle have motivated researchers to discover substitute fuel for fossil fuel. Regards fatty acid methyl esters have more attractive attention among other alternative fuels due to their biological feature and chemical structure. So, biodiesel extracted from Garcinia seeds had much attraction and it could be viable alternative source to diesel then it would help to reserve the eco-friendly status of the environment. The present study focuses on comparative behavior of various nano additives namely; Cerium oxide (CeO2), Zirconium oxide (ZrO2) and Titanium oxide (TiO2) with B20 blend (20% Garcinia gummi-gutta biodiesel + 80% diesel) in Kirloskar make, TAF-1 single cylinder engine. These nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized by using sol-gel combustion, SEM, TEM and XRD analysis. All the nano-additives were prepared at 25 ppm fraction and blended with B20 blend in magnetic stirrer for 30min followed by ultrasonication for 10min respectively. Results revealed that the optimized B20 (Garcinia)+TiO2(25 ppm) fuel blend possess greater impact and it had nearer performance, reduction in CO, UBHC and smoke emissions, lowered combustion with diesel fuel. Also, this fuel blend had a steep increment in NOx and CO2 emission with diesel fuel at peak load. At the whole, the nano-additive blended Garcinia B20 blend acquired better efficiency and minimal emissions with normal B20 and B100 fuel blends.
