Abstract

In the paper basic experimental tests were carried out to compare the wear indicators of selected abrasive cutting discs in cutting process of selected kinds of steel. Experimental tests on the wear and efficiency of cutting discs were made for three types of steel (S235, 40HM, SW18). Tests were carried out for three different shapes of samples: square tube 20 × 20 × 2 (S235 steel), shaft O 20 (40HM steel) and square rod 20 × 20 (SW18 steel). Firstly, the average times of the cutting process for workpieces made of the mentioned steels were graphically presented. Next, the reduction of average diameter of the cutting discs after two cutting series were showed. At the end, the wear parameter KF (included in the ISO standard) of new abrasive discs from European market were examined. This paper presents an analysis of the efficiency and wear of the cutting discs manufactured by “MOST” company using an angle grinder.
