Abstract

H AVING recently reviewed the subject of spontaneous diabetes mellitus in animals, repetition of some of the observations made is unavoidable; however, in the present text certain additional aspects, not previously covered, will be discussed and greater emphasis placed on comparative microscopic and clinicopathologic findings. For the sake of completeness, all references to reports on spontaneous diabetes mellitus in domestic animals (grouped according to animal species) have been added to the bibliography. Only those publications directly quoted from and general reference matter have been incorporated in this presentation. The very extensive literature concerning surgical and drug-induced diabetes has not been evaluated.
