Abstract

The aim of this work was to simulate a Dielectric Resonator Antenna design using Glass dielectric medium at frequency range of 4 GHz to 5 GHz in comparison with RT Duroid dielectric medium. Reflection Coefficient and SWR of Dielectric Resonator Antenna using Glass dielectric medium (n=16) were compared with RT duroid dielectric medium (n=16) using Altair FEKO simulation tool, where n represents sample size. Finite Element Method was used for the design of Dielectric Resonator Antenna using FEKO software. In this work, there were two groups each consisting of 16 samples with pretest power or G power of 83% and significance of 0.023. By varying the Finite Element Method (FEM) modal port feed base radius of Glass medium, reflection coefficient and SWR were calculated. Resonator Antenna using Glass medium has low reflection coefficient (-25.6 dB) and low SWR (1 dB) than resonator antenna using RT duroid medium with high reflection coefficient (-22.7 dB) and high SWR (1.29 dB). The study of Resonator Antenna using Glass medium at frequency 4 GHz-5 GHz provides low reflection coefficient and low SWR. High frequency Glass medium based resonator antenna optimized reflection coefficient and SWR of antenna. The novel simulated antenna design of resonator antennas are used for Mobile and Satellite communication systems.
