Abstract
The natural resource such as fossil fuels are depleting at a very faster rate, so the research on the forms of alternative fuels has become veryinevitable. Since, there is a high demand of diesel for transportation systems, power generations and agro based sectors, and the biodiesels can betaken as an alternative fuel instead of diesels. The aim of the work is to produce biodiesel and it’s testing of various biodiesel blends in the dieselengine. The piston is coated with satellite – 6 material to enhance the performance and to decrease the CO, CO2 and other oxides of emissions.The impact of pongamia biodiesel on the brake thermal efficiency, specific fuel consumption of the engine and the exhaust emissions wereanalyzed. The results were compared with coated and uncoated piston using biodiesel fuel. The results show that the increase in brake thermalefficiency and NOx, whereas decrease in CO and HC was observed.
