Abstract

This paper focuses on the analysis of different sensorless direct torque control (DTC) techniques such as Classical DTC, Space vector modulation (SVM) based closed loop torque control and SVM based independent torque and flux control loops, for a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) drive. All these methods have been modeled and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment. It is evident from the results obtained that an excellent performance is achieved for the latter two DTC methods; their performance parameters such as response time, torque ripple and peak stator current are being compared. The results obtained from the analysis would help in making a judicious choice of an appropriate control technique for a variety of applications such as electric vehicles, ship propulsion, traction, etc., depending upon the requirements.
