Abstract
Formation of dislocation structures has been found in α-Fe as a result of intense-pulsed ion beam treatment. The close correlation between an average scalar dislocation density and microhardness has been proved both in near-surface layers and at high depths for the different regimes of irradiation. A comparative analysis of structure damages after ion and intense-pulsed electron beam irradiation is interesting for an explanation of some modified mechanical properties and an application of such treatments in technologies.
