Abstract

This study looks at the challenge of parametric estimation in photovoltaic (PV) module with manufacturer information from the perspective of evolutionary computation. A non-linear non-convex optimization problem is created using the data sheet provided by the PV manufacturer, which includes information on maximum power, open-circuit, and short-circuit values. Comparative analysis is made between particle swarm optimization, artificial electric field algorithm, whale optimization algorithm, crow search algorithm, harmony search algorithm and a hybrid algorithm of PSO and pattern search for parameter extraction of a mono-crystalline Sanyo-HIT215 solar panel. The results are tabulated and I-V characteristics plotted.
