Abstract

Plasmid profiling of Xanthomonas campestris pv. viticola from different areas of Maharashtra along with Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. malvacearum, Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris, and Xanthomonas campestris pv. punicae was done. All isolates had single indigenous plasmid with molecular size ranging between 21-24kb. Indigenous plasmid of approximately 22-23 kb was isolated from Xanthomonas campestris pv. viticola. Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. malvacearum and Xanthomonas campestris pv. punicae possessed a 22kb plasmid while Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris has a 21kb plasmid. The study highlights a close similarity of plasmid size of different species of Xanthomonas thereby hinting an evolutionary significance.
