Abstract

The article describes the results of a study of a number of personal characteristics (hardiness, coping strategies, self-regulation, and professional self-determination) in adolescents with hearing impairments and adolescents without impairments. A total of 36 male adolescents from 14 to 17 years old took part in the study. Methods were used in the work: “Modified test of hardiness by S. Maddi” (D. A. Leontiev, E. I. Rasskazova), “Questionnaire for coping with stress” (T. O. Rasskazova, E. N. Gordeeva), the questionnaire “Style of self-regulation of behavior” (V. I. Morosanova), “Five-factor personality questionnaire” (A. B. Khromov) and “Methods of studying the status of professional identity” (A. A. Azbel, A. G. Gretsov). The results obtained by all five methods were similar in the two groups of adolescents; for most of the indicators, the average level of severity was noted. Correlation analysis revealed the presence of links between the personal characteristics of adolescents with hearing impairment. The data obtained will supplement the ideas of researchers about the personal characteristics of adolescents with disabilities, and can form the basis of psycho-correctional programs designed by psychologists of educational organizations.
