Abstract

This paper presents a new optimization technique known as Hybrid Newton Raphson method to solve non linear transcendental equations that has multiple solutions. This technique is a combination of genetic algorithm and newton raphson method. This method effectively works and minimizes the dominant lower order of harmonics from the output voltage waveform of 11-level multilevel inverter and controls the magnitude of fundamental component of output voltage. It has been shown that proposed method gives better result as compared to the genetic algorithm. Theoretical results are verified with the simulation of 11- level cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter with equal dc sources.
