Abstract

Three phase induction motors are employed in practically every industry because of their compact construction and simplicity of operation. It is crucial to analyze losses in order to enhance the efficiency of induction machines. Classification of losses like Copper (Primary and secondary), stray load, mechanical and iron losses. In electrical machines, Stray Load Losses (SLLs) account for a significant portion of total losses and are a critical factor in determining the electrical machine's energy efficiency. The accurate estimation of stray load loss contributes significantly to improved motor performance. This paper analyzes a link between these losses and the zig-zag flux in the instance of a skewed squirrel cage induction motor. In this work, three phase 30 kW IE3 induction motor (squirrel cage type) is modelled using RMxprt and stray load losses are obtained analytically by taking the result from Ansys Maxwell.
