Abstract

In the field test of tidal energy converters, the conversion efficiency of tidal energy converter is an important indicator of measuring the power characteristic performance of tidal energy converter and one of the important aspects of the field test of tidal energy converter. Based on the R&D status and test requirements of tidal energy converters, the calculation methods for conversion efficiency of tidal energy converters were researched, the calculation formula of conversion efficiency of tidal energy converters was deduced during the entire test period, and the calculation and comparative analysis of the conversion efficiency data of tidal energy converters in each velocity range and those were carried out with the field test data of tidal energy converters during the entire test period. The results show that the maximum value of the calculation methods for conversion efficiency at home and abroad for the calculation results of conversion efficiency in each velocity range is less than 1% but basically the same for those during the entire test period. The research results will provide references for the calculation of conversion efficiency index in the field test of power characteristics of tidal energy converters.
