Abstract

In this work, we present the modeling and control strategies of a variable speed wind energy conversion (WEC) system using a Squirrel Cage Induction (SCI) Generator. The aim of this work is to design and compare two control strategies, the first one is the classic by Proportional and Integral (PI) controller and the second is Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) controller. The objective of the controllers is to regulate the Squirrel Cage Induction (SCI) generator speed and field, and also the generator electromagnetic torque. To extract the maximum of the mechanical power of the turbine, we used the MPPT technique without speed control. In order to compare the performance of two the controller's, a series of simulations were made in MATLAB/Simulink environment; a test of robustness was show by changing the internal parameters of the generator.
