Abstract

Dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) system for EVs is a customary need for future transportation. In this paper, a comparative analysis between high-order compensation and Series-Series (SS) compensation for DWPT system is presented. In general, the application of the wireless power transfer system, SS-compensation has proven to be effective in terms of the load independent characteristics and zero phase angle operation. Moreover, high-order compensation of DWPT system provides greater flexibility in control and reduced power stages in the onboard receivers of the EVs. The comparative analysis has presented here to demonstrate the trade off between high-order compensation and SS-compensation. Finally, it is observed that high-order compensation is better in terms of zero current as well as zero voltage switching characteristics which make it more suitable for DWPT system.
