Abstract
Objective To compare the effect of pneumatic lithotripsy and holmium laser lithotripsy for the treatment of upper urinary tract calculi in children. Methods A total of 80 children with upper urinary tract calculi in our hospital from May 2013 to February 2016 were selected and randomly divided into observation group and control group, 40 cases in each group.. The control group was treated with pneumatic ballistic lithotripsy, the observation group was given with holmium laser lithotripsy, the outcomes in the two groups were recorded and analyzed by using the prospective studymethod. Results There was no significant difference in operation time between the two groups (P>0.05), but the postoperative hospital stay in the observation group was significantly less than that in the control group (P<0.05). The stone clearance rate of the observation group was 97.5%(39/40)and 100%(40/40), respectively, and so that were 82.5%(33/40)and 85%(34/40)in the control group that the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). The complications such as urinary tract infection, ureteral fragmentation, ureteral perforation and renal infection was 7.5%(3/40)in the observation group, the control group was 27.5%(11/40), the observation group was significantly less than that of the control group (P<0.05). The satisfaction degree of the observation group and the control group was 97.5%(39/40) and 85.0%(34/40), respectively and the satisfaction degree of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group three months after operation (P<0.05). Conclusions Compared with pneumatic ballistic, the hol-mium laser lithotripsy for the treatment of upper urinary tract calculi in children under the condition of not increase medical cost and time of surgery which improve the stone clearance rate, shorten the hospitalization time, reduce the incidence of postoperative complications.
