Abstract

Planar inverted-F antenna analysed using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method with absorbing boundary condition (ABC) are demonstrated in this thesis. To compare the effective of absorbing boundary condition at absorbing evanescent wave, two kinds of absorbing boundary conditions algorithm of the FDTD method are presented, which are convention perfectly matched layer (PML) absorbing boundary conditions and convolutional Perfectly Matched Layer (CPML) absorbing boundary condition. Based upon the programming language of MATLAB, the FDTD method is realized. The antenna is simulated using Ansoft High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) software, The simulation results agree fairly well with theoretical CPML analysis. The dimension of proposed antenna is ( $10.48\times 16\times 0.847$ ) mm3 and its resonated at (2.23-5.89) GHz which cover the C-communication frequency band. Inverted-F antenna display omnidirectional radiation pattern and good peak gains across the operation bands.
