Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the association between family social risk (RSF), oral individual risk and collective risk of caries with the demographic of adults and children (families) of the Family Health Unit (USF) in Sorocaba, SP . Materials and Methods: This is an exploratory descriptive research with quantitative analysis. The study sample consisted of children in the age group of 6 to 12 years, with higher dental needs, of both sexes and all components of the family nucleus and that are registered in the USF north of Sorocaba. We obtained a total of 20 children who participated in the study with an average of 4 components of their nuclear families, totaling 79 people at the end. To collect data from this study were used two indicators: the DMFT index — epidemiological tool — and the sheet for families of registration (Form A) of the Information System of Primary Care (SIAB) — form with information and data of the nuclear family. Results: The data collected during home visits were grouped and compiled into a made spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel, and then we calculated the familiar score — according to Coelho Scale and Savassi — and the DMFT of each family member rated. Later, the data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA. Conclusion: The analysis showed no significant differences when comparing the vulnerability risks of the average DMFT families.
