Abstract

Differential cross sections have been measured for the ground state groups of the (α, τ) and (α, t) reactions on the N = Z nuclei 10B, 12C, 14N, 32S and 40Ca and for elastic scattering of 56 MeV alpha particles by the same targets. The yield of 3He is larger than the yield of tritons. A DWBA analysis has been performed assuming a stripping reaction mechanism. The predicted ratios of (α, τ) and (α, t) cross sections are compared with the experimental values. The influence of various terms in the DWBA calculations is studied.
