Abstract

An issue gaining increased attention today in public personnel salary administration is that of comparable worth. This article discusses relevant legislation and case law, reviews several comparable worth studies, and examines the issue of job evaluation methods — the tool used to compare jobs within occupational groups. The recent U. S. Supreme Court decision in Gunther v. County of Washington illustrates the timely nature of this article.
