Abstract

A compact, low power bandpass filter with additional tuning capability over previous bandpass filters is presented. Implemented in an analogue CMOS process, the n-well (bulk) conductance of the amplifiers in the filter is used to control both the resonant (peak) frequency and the Q factor of the filter frequency response. This technique is demonstrated to decrease the peak frequency while improving (sharpening) the Q factor. However, this same technique can be used to increase the peak frequency while improving the Q factor or to control the Q factor and peak frequency independently.
