Abstract

AC motors are the electrical drives most frequently used in industrial applications. These drives are designed for operating at constant speed, a fact that makes them rather difficult to be used for control purpouses. Nowadays, there are several techniques for facing the problem of AC motor control, such as the Vector Control method. Nevertheless, their implementation normally implies high costs and a rather complex hardware design. This work presents a Vector Control System of AC induction motors, based on a high performance dedicated microcontroller. This setup enables a compact hardware design for the development of control algorithms of fast servo mechanism implemented with AC motors as actuators.
