Abstract

A compact two-port multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna of size 50 mm × 25 mm has been designed on FR4 substrate using the GCPW feeding technique. Each MIMO antenna is designed using two identical circular monopole antenna elements placed orthogonal to each other for good isolation. The proposed antenna has |S11| ≤ −10 dB, |S21| ≤ −20 dB and a low envelope correlation coefficient less than 0.1 over the entire bandwidth of 8 GHz in the 3–11 GHz range, which make them suitable for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications.
