Abstract

A compact planar Wilkinson power divider using π-equivalent shunt-stub-based artificial transmission lines (SSB ATLs) has been designed and experimentally verified. Instead of using conventional quarter-wave microstrips, the π-equivalent SSB ATLs realised by a series high-impedance microstrips and two sets of branch-type stubs are employed to implement a compact power divider. The developed power divider occupies only 14.7% of the circuit size of a conventional one. The measured results of the developed power divider are in good agreement with simulated results.
