Abstract

A compact dynamic model of an open-cycle GT set that includes also the NOz emission estimation is formulated. The compressor and turbine models are derived from the definition of some dimensionless numbers and from GT design data. The thermodynamical model of the GT combustion chamber is described by mass and energy balances. Since the production of thermal NOz is very sensitive to temperature, estimation of flame temperature must be accurate. A typical transient is analysed in order to validate the proposed GT and NOz emission model.
