Abstract

AbstractA single‐layer and single‐probe‐feed dual‐frequency semicircular microstrip antenna with a shorting plane is presented. Compared with a circular microstrip antenna operating at fixed frequencies, a large area reduction can be obtained. By varying the shorting‐plane width, the two resonant frequencies are significantly perturbed. Experimental and simulation impedance behaviors of a typical proposed antenna are given. Good agreement is achieved between them. Their measured radiation patterns are also presented. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
