With a pair of notches properly etchedin the inner circular patch, the third resonant band was su–cientlylowered so that the second and third resonant bands are combinedto form a wider upper operating band. If scaled to the same loweroperating-band center frequency, the proposed ARSA measures only53.6% the area of a conventional microstrip-line-fed ARSA. Measuredand simulated results were found to agree reasonably well with eachother.1. INTRODUCTIONDue to the advantages of large impedance bandwidths and low proflles,printed slot antennas (PSAs) have received much attention in recentyears. Some PSAs were designed to generate circularly polarizedwaves with desired handed senses [1{3]; some were further enhancedin their bandwidths [4{6]; others were developed to support dual-band operations [7{17].
