Abstract

A zeroth-order resonance (ZOR) and first-order resonance (FOR) antenna based on the metamaterial is presented in this paper. The epsilon negative transmission line (ENG-TL) includes one meander line for realizing shunt inductance. The antenna is fed by an asymmetric co-planar waveguide (ACPW). The asymmetry of this structure brings about ZOR and FOR mode, which are merged into one passband to achieve a wideband performance. The ZOR and FOR antenna with high gain has a wide bandwidth of 1.60–3.34 GHz and a small size of 0.2λ×0.13λ.
