Abstract

ABSTRACTA compact wideband Bi-Cone shaped Dielectric Resonator Antenna (BCDRA) is proposed. The Bi-Cone geometry is formed by joining two conical sections from base to base. This aids to increase the Surface area to Volume ratio(S/V). Thus the impedance bandwidth of DRA is increased. To further miniaturize the Bi-Cone DRA triangular notches and edge grounding is incorporated. The proposed DRA prototype is fabricated and measured. The measured results shows an impedance bandwidth range from 2.8 to 7.38GHz (93.1%) for (<-10dB). Moreover, the miniaturized Bi-Cone DRA has a volume of 7.58, which is 74% less than the volume of the base structure.
