Abstract

In the paper, a printed dipole with folded arms and U-shape structure for wireless cable modem is proposed. The printed dipole antenna is manufactured on a FR4 substrate with a thickness of 0.6 mm, a permittivity of 4.4, and a loss tangent of 0.0245. The folded arms and U-shape structure can produce the bandwidth for WiFi applications. The simulated and measured results indicate the antenna has a bandwidth of 2.4–2.484 GHz. The measured antenna gain and efficiency of the antenna with metal board and plastic cover is good for applications. The design with small size and good antenna radiation is a good candidate for wireless cable modem.
