Abstract

AbstractIn this article, a novel type of dual‐mode bandpass filter is presented. The novel structure is achieved by embedding a pair of crossed slots and spur‐lines. The proposed filter provides low insertion loss because there are no coupling gaps and radiation loss in feed structure. Without coupling gaps between feed lines and patch resonator, impedance matching can be easily obtained. The bandwidth and the location of attenuation poles are adjusted by the spur‐lines. In addition, this design has a practical, flexible, and wide coupling range for dual‐mode operation. The filter exhibits 18.5% bandwidth at the center frequency of 1.495 GHz. Insertion loss is better than 1.31 dB in the passband. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
