Abstract

Hoarding disorder (HD) is characterized by difficulty discarding seemingly worthless possessions, leading to accumulation of clutter in living and working spaces. Although hoarding disorder has finally been recognized as its own independent diagnosis in the latest version of the DSM, much of this psychiatric disorder remains poorly understood. In particular, co-occurring patterns of HD with other psychiatric disorders, as well as how worsening compulsive hoarding interacts with co-occurring diagnoses remains largely unexplored at a large scale.
