Abstract
In this paper we will consider the characteristics of ‘The New Public Health Movement’. We will identify ‘community participation’ as a fundamental underlying principle of that movement. We will consider the extent to which operational research, specifically the newly emerging community operational research, can be a vehicle for the strengthening of community participation within the health sector.
