Abstract

Oxidant air pollution injury to tobacco leaves was used as a monitoring system for demonstrating air pollution within a suburban community. Isopollutans, constructed by connecting points of equal plant leaf injury from air pollution, indicated areas within the community where levels of pollution were relatively high or low. The air pollution levels correlated visually with vehicular traffic patterns in the community.
