Abstract
Community Life: A Code of Practice for Community Care aims to outline a rational approach to the provision of community care. It attempts to offer practical advice on the implementation of the White Paper Caring for People: Community Care in the Next Decade and Beyond. To a large extent the aim is achieved. The text is written in a clear and concise way, and each paragraph is readily identified by a subheading in the margin. It seems a shame there is no index to help the reader with specific topics. Three appendices give more detailed examples of checklists for monitoring various aspects of community care which would be easily adaptable for different health authorities’ needs.
