Abstract

AbstractThere has been little discussion in the literature regarding community Health Fair services provided to the Armenian participants in Glendale, California. This presentation is about the design of the Health Fair; it’s partnership with non-profit professional organizations, and the execution of the community health fair. Objective of the health fair is to provide free of charge services, education, references to the Armenian American immigrant residents of Los Angeles county. A feasible location has been set in the city of Glendale with the highest percentage of Armenian American immigrants. The setting is at the largest community church with an easy proximity to major area hospitals and clinics, and most importantly to public transportation. A partnership has been established with major non-profit professional organizations for their sponsorship and support. Combining community campus partnership has enabled local medical and nursing schools’ for student sponsors and supporters. The students will learn to become more responsive to community needs and learn to work collaboratively towards creating healthier communities, and building the public health provider skills. Pharmaceutical companies, along with the local Department of Health and Women’s services provide the participants screening materials and resources for follow up. Some of the screening services provided Blood glucose and Cholesterol testing, Mammograms, Spirometry checks, dental, EKG, ENT, Eye exams to name a few. In addition we will discuss the main results and reflect on the process, relationship and outcome analysis of the Community Health Fair.
