Abstract

This paper briefly describes the concept of community food security. It then examines a variety of community food security programmes (food stamp outreach programmes, farmers markets, community gardens, food buying cooperatives, community-supported agriculture programmes, farm-to-school initiatives, and food recovery programmes) in the USA, looking at their scope, their limitations, and their successes.
