Abstract

Food security depends on nutritional status. The consumption pattern in the Malang Raya Region is still dominated by high consumption of carbohydrate food sources, especially rice. This study aims to analyze factors affecting consumption of farmers’ household consumption in Empowerment and Handling of Community Food Consumption Patterns in the Malang Raya Region, determining respondents using the Simple Random Sampling technique. Primary data was collected through questionnaires and interviews, while secondary data was sourced from BPS data and related agencies. The results show that food security in Malang Raya can be optimized by taking into account several factors that need further evaluation so that food security can take place and survive consistently. In general, the aim of PPH is to produce a standard composition of food to meet the nutritional needs of the population, while taking into account the nutritional balance. Therefore, it is necessary to change the pattern of food consumption by increasing education, knowledge of nutrition, and public welfare, so that their nutritional status is fulfilled. Improving the quality of food security and independence of the people of Malang Raya through empowerment and management of community food consumption patterns is a priority at this time.
