Abstract

The present article is devoted to investigation of metacommunicative means of language which are used for maintaining relations between communicants in speech act. More attention is paid to analysis of such meta operators as “Look”, “Look here” and ”Listen” which are able to ensure, refuse, surprise, confirm the information of speech act. These meta operators are often used in oral communication. Besides them, some verbs also can fulfill the phatic function and broaden pragmatic meaning of speech act. Theoretical part of the article is proved by examples, taken form original English texts.
