Communication potential of Solutions Journalism in Ukraine

Abstract

The article raises the issue of the new transformation of traditional media, because in connection with the development of civilization, new forms and practices have appeared in the field of journalism, in particular solutions journalism. Solutions Journalism as a new direction of journalism does not ignore the normative roles of traditional journalism, but only complements them constructively, which balances the flow of negative news with the help of positive changes in the form of instructional ways of solving social problems, with the aim of catalyzing the potential interaction of the audience with the latter. Unlike traditional journalism, solution journalism changes the emphasis on the agenda from highlighting the problem to publicizing its solutions, thereby transforming the journalist’s position from an observer to an «agent of change», the so-called constructive journalist. In the Ukrainian information space, Solutions Journalism is only gaining popularity, focusing on the implementation of media practice abroad.
