Abstract

Patients receive imaging results in a number of different manners: from the referring physician, from a physician assistant or nurse, directly from the radiologist, or through a patient web portal. The ideal method of communicating results is not universally agreed upon [1,2]. There has been a push to increase radiologists’ visibility through the direct communication of results to patients [3-5]. This may decrease delays in patient care, reduce patient anxiety, and improve patient adherence to follow-up recommendations [4].
