Abstract

This paper introduces the execution and performance evaluation of an interoperable Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) used for realizing various smart community services. This work also exhibits network topology, message formats and sequences for data exchange to integrate smart services like Commodity Tracking (CT), Emergency Button (EB), E-Governance (EG), Smart Bins (SB), Smart Metering (SM) and Smart Street Lights (SL) to smart city services. Implementation and analysis of the selected smart community services with multiple technologies following SOA architecture is done in the communication network simulator NetSim. Performance analysis is done for the communication architecture with a heterogeneous communication network comprising of multiple communication technologies like Wi-Fi and Ethernet. This work will help in understanding the prerequisites and performance of the communication network for implementing various smart community services. The work can be enhanced by updating the implementations to comply with interoperability standards like IEEE 2030.
