Abstract

Communication is the core, underlying theme in collaboration/consultation. The role that communication plays in field-based school models is explored through a description of projects currently in operation across five states. These programs, spanning elementary, middle, and secondary schools, are all deemed successful through some form of internal or external review. Common characteristics of these programs (e.g., each serve a different, but specifically designated/limited student population) are identified. Concerns related to the gap between experimental research coming from the university and public school realities are noted.
